Renaissance Man
I
I stumbled upon you
as I journeyed along the lonely passage
Enchantment, the magic, the beauty of fantasy
guided me along my way
Among those glades and those golden woods
I stumbled upon you as you weaved your way
through my waking dream
II
Under the noon sun of the day you weaved your way
you swallowed the reel
and the rod
with the faith you so sweetly had
As the stream reflected the sun
those rays echoed in your eyes
Tentatively I showed you the mirror of my soul
for you to see and feel yourself
in my eyes and arms
envisioned your entire lifetime in my lips
III
Who are you, Sir?
To emptying and filling me up
and washing over me
until you are all I need
Would I be the vision of images in your creations?
Would I be the beauty in the words that you sung?
Are we meant to dwell in a castle on the moon?
Are we meant to march down the marble halls,
to a grand ballroom
and dance to a Bard's tune?
IV
Mist wrapped me in dewy skin
I inhaled my dreams
Trudged my way in a fairy tale
The stillness of noon
Seldom breeze glided me by
Yet, the blankets of nights are no comfort
sustained by liquid memories of you
which kissed me goodbye
with the reality of translucent lies
V
I could derive word by word
the lamentation of my devotion
But I failed to withstand
the expanses of lifelessness
where once your oceanic eyes gave meaning
However swift and fleeting
I clung to every last drop
to derive what I may
before our memories slip away...
