Ground Zero
That day on ground zero shocked America.
Made us cry and weep for the future.
That day brought us closer together. It made us stronger.
Now we feel we can live through anything.
It brought out our pride with our flags. Red, white and blue.
We got our spirits high.
Giving blood and clothes to strangers we don’t know.
This made us better people, stronger people.
We comforted those who lost,
Rejoiced with those who lived.
Pray for an answer to why not really expecting a reason.
We spent time with our family for the first time in a while.
And thanked god for all we have.
We went to church and celebrated the living and cried over the lost.
All this with strangers.
We now wave to people we don’t know and get teary at the sight of a flag.
We burst out with kindness and loving to those with us at home.
And for those who lost we mourn, we cry.
For we have lost many.
But we haven’t lost our freedom.
