An ill-aimed comment divides my heart
Piercing silence pries into me
The agony of rejection

Speaking lightly, apprehensive of love
The importance of our dialect is utterly lost
Feeling another living thing in my arms
Coldly pushed away
My love is shunned
Deep looks containing a burning within
An all-consuming fire
A weary smile, tender glance, slight brush
Fanning the coals, igniting the tender

Upside down, utterly captivated
Held by loves soft embrace, around my throat
Desiring to help, to hold so close
To cause a laugh, smile, or joyous thought
To have genuine happiness so few hold dear
Sharing true love
Being one with another
Releasing life’s eternal damnation
