Sadness is I,
For I love what I can never hope to aquire,
The love of another so perfect;

Sadness is I,
For I strive to achieve
What I will never be able to grasp,
The companionship
And trust,
Of a friend;

Sadness is I,
For sorrow and pain
Wrack upon my very existence,
For hurt and loss eat me alive;

Sadness is I,
For taunts and tricks
Pelt me like sharpened stone;

Sadness,
Is I,
For the cruelty of life
Has melted my soul
And fractured my spirit,
For darkness
Creeps further over me,
Every day,
Every hour,
Every pulse of my blood...
